Awesome new nail trends
Bright nails, shiny nails, French nails...oh my! February 9th, 2012 at 9:26am

Nail polish and nail art have been HUGE lately. With tons of bright colors, press-ons, cute patterned tips and fun designs, this season's nails are going to be rockin'. Anything goes these days, but here are some of the cool trends seen around town:

-Neutrals are in. A light shade of pink or beige will look pretty and soft on your fingers. If you want the polish to be more noticeable, apply a few layers. Just make sure you wait for the first layer to dry before you go for round two!

-Or go BRIGHT and BOLD. Paint your nails the craziest, brightest color you can find. Even try a shade with sparkles. Remember, sometimes bright and bold looks best with a simple outfit.

-Lip Smackers just came out with awesome Valentine's Day nail stencils. Now you can paint cute little hearts on your nails (super easy and fun)! Or you can stencil in kissable lips, instead. The best part is the collections also come with crazy cool Lip Smackers like Pink Lemonade Kisses and Be Mine Bubble Gum or Wild About U Strawberry and I <3 You Strawberry. Pickup the Yours Always and Forever Friends Collections at Target so you can be festively in style this V-season!

-Another big trend these days is unique colored French tips. If you don't know what it is, it's when the tips are a different color than the rest of your nail. You can buy a special kit or you can do it cheaply by putting regular tape over the end of each nail, leaving a little space for the tip color. First paint your base layer in one color and wait for it to dry. Then put a piece of tape near to the end of each nail and paint the tips with another favorite shade. The tape will help you from messing it up. When it's all dry, take the tape off and ta-da!

-Stick-on patterns and nail art are in, too. Right now there are all kinds of kits that are super colorful and easy to use. You can stick on gems to make your own unique design or paint whatever you want with a tiny nail polish brush. (Your mom or bff might have to help out with drawing freehand though since it's hard to draw on your own nails.) You might also want to check out sticky nail art designs that cover the whole nail, too. Pretty, pretty!

Personally, I love all the designs and nail art that are out these days. I want to try them all. And celebs are going crazy, too! My fave is Lady Gaga with her wild metallics, gem-studded and long, multi-patterned nails.

What's your favorite trend?
